Step-by-Step Guide to Find a Tattoo Parlor

Getting a tattoo is a serious decision. Yes, you can remove your tattoos now. But tattoo removal is not easy. It requires many sessions of laser or other methods. It can also be expensive. Not to mention that the money you spent on getting the tattoo will also be wasted.

So, take your time when looking for a tattoo parlor. So, you need to ensure that you choose only the best shop and an experienced artist for your tattoo.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to find a tattoo parlor.

Do your Research

Research is the first step to find the right tattoo parlor that might be best for your requirements. You can begin with a quick online search to find the names of leading tattoo shops in your town or city. You can use search terms such as tattoo parlors in Fayetteville NC or mention any other city’s depending on your requirement.

You can also ask for referrals from the people you know about good tattoo parlors in your area based on their experience.

Check the Websites

Once you have collected a few names by the above two methods, it is time to further your research. Check the websites of the tattoo shops on your list. Reputed tattoo parlors are likely to maintain an up-to-date website with all the information their potential clients may require. This can be information about the artists working in the shop, their services (different tattoo styles), images of their past work, and ways to book a session.

Carefully check the profile of the artists and see whose work you like. Check the shop policies about payments and refunds. Finalize one or two shops to take your search for the best tattoo parlor further.

Schedule a Consultation

You will find the information to schedule a consultation with the tattoo artist on the parlor’s website. Reputed tattoo parlors always offer free consultations to their prospective clients. These sessions can be helpful as you can discuss your requirements with the artists, hear the artist’s vision about your idea or wish, and finalize things.

Don’t be shy when discussing your idea with the artist.

People wish to get a tattoo for various reasons. Your reason can be a very emotional one or signify a triumph of your personal journey. Your tattoo artist needs to understand it properly to offer you his or her vision to translate your wish on your skin. Perhaps you want an eccentric tattoo or some tribal art. Perhaps you wish to get the face of your child inked on your arm. These types of tattoos require immense skills and a vision on the part of the artist. The artist will also need to understand your reason for the tattoo, perceive the optics of your idea, and give your proper vision form.

Consider your responses to the below questions –

Did the tattoo artist ask you questions about your idea? Did the artist consider your suggestions? Was the artist attentive to you during the consultation? Was it difficult to book the consulting session? Are you satisfied with the consultation?

Carefully consider these aspects when looking for a tattoo parlor.

Also, use this time to ask any questions you might have about the tattoo process, the inks used, and the time required for the work. If you are allergic to pigments (some people are); make sure to discuss this with the artist. Different types of inks are used these days. Your Durham tattoo artists might have an alternate solution for you.

Check the Shop

During your consultation, you will get a chance to see the parlor from inside. It is your chance to observe the atmosphere inside the shop.

Did you like what you see? Were the artists and the support staff courteous and professional? Was the shop clean? Did everything look organized? Were the tools strewn everywhere, neatly placed on the tables, or tucked away? Was the atmosphere there professional yet friendly?

Finalize the Parlor

Once you are fully satisfied with the parlor’s management and the artist’s work, it is time to finalize it. Make sure to schedule your session without delay as experienced artists are booked days (even weeks) in advance.
